Losing pregnancy weight is a source of great concern for all new mothers. Since a certain amount of gain in weight is part of the whole process of pregnancy many women worry about losing this extra fat.

All women need to gain weight during pregnancy in order to fulfill the nutritional demands of the growing baby. The amount of weight gained by each woman is different. Though doctors recommend that a gain of approximately twenty pounds during the entire period of pregnancy should be sufficient for a healthy woman. The total gain in weight comprises of the weight of the baby, the mothers enlarged breasts, larger uterus, the placenta and the fluids in the womb.

There is a loss in the weight of the pregnant woman right after childbirth, due to childbirth, breastfeeding and other maternal responsibilities. Most people recommend breastfeeding to women who want to get back in shape after pregnancy as, breastfeeding is said to burn a lot of the fat deposits in the mothers’ body.

When the weight gained during pregnancy is normal it is easier to lose the extra fat by a little exercising and control in diet. In cases where the pregnant woman gains too much weight during her pregnancy it is generally a little more difficult to lose weight. Losing this excess weight is sometimes not easy to achieve by the woman on her own. In these circumstances the woman must go to a qualified doctor who would advise her on a suitable plan regarding her diet and exercise.

Following a healthy routine of food and exercise is helpful in losing pregnancy weight.
