The importance of the role of women in the continuity
of the human race has led to many organizations putting a major emphasis
on the study of womens health problems. Healthy women give birth to health
babies. Hence, maternal health plays an important role in both the economy
and the society.
Thyroid problems, eating disorders like bulimia or anorexia, injuries
of the bone, menstrual disorders, infectious diseases, sexually transmitted
diseases like AIDS, gonorrhea, urinary infections, breast cancer, osteoporosis,
anemia are some of the health problems faced by women.
In some countries lack of sanitation facilities, medical assistance and
inadequate knowledge and awareness regarding health, hygiene, nutrition,
birth control and sexually transmitted diseases are the major health problems
faced by women.
Changes in lifestyle and industrialization have given rise to many new
health problems for women. In many polluted cities of the world, studies
have shown the relation between the increase in pollution and the increase
in lung related diseases and allergies.
Most women play an active role in both their homes and in society, in
fact with the growing number of women juggling between both home and career
there has been an increase in the number of health problems faced by them.
Stress related diseases like blood pressure, diabetes and heart problem
that were considered predominantly male health problems are now part of
the list of ailments faced by women.
It is extremely important that health care authorities and providers all
over the world ensure that Womens health problems are given topmost priority.
